Former Massachutsetts Governor Mitt Romney easily won the Illinois Republican Primary on Tuesday, and despite a commanding lead in wins and delegates, his opponents vow to stay in the race against almost impossible odds. Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich both declared they are not done after Romney won again in a big Midwest state, and solidified his lead as the GOP front-runner.

Santorum continued to bash Romney, while Romney continued to bash the President, and Gingrich, well, no one can figure out just what his angle is after a poor 4th-place showing in Illinois. It’s usually Ron Paul bringing up the rear, but for Gingrich to fall behind Paul in Illinois pretty much wraps up any real chance of the former speaker overtaking Romney or Santorum in this election.

Santorum refuses to get out of the race still insisting he is the “real” conservative in the race, but voters apparently not buying the idea. Santorum has hurt his own campaign railing against what he calls government intrusion, all while telling voters that he will do the same exact thing he protests.
