If you thought BET’s Black Girls Rock was something spectacular this year, wait until you see the ladies take on the annual VH1 DIVAS affair which was filmed in New York City last night. This year, DIVAS Celebrate Soul was the place to be and we’re only anticipating a wonderful show when it airs tonight on the budding network.

Headliners Jennifer Hudson, Jill Scott, Mary J. Blige, Ledisi and Erykah Badu appear to be the top performers of the night, but of course there were more divas in training coming up in the ranks last night including Marsha Ambrosius, Estelle, Sharon Jones (of the Dap Kings) plus Kelly Clarkson and a few others. Don’t forget about the legendary divas like Chaka Khan and Anita Baker who both tore up their performances with high notes and jazzy riffs from what we hear. There’s more in store of course, but we’re not going to give it all away.
