Record producer Jermaine Dupri is facing further financial problems after he was hit with a lawsuit over his luxury sports car.
Dupri, a former long-term boyfriend of singer Janet Jackson, purchased a white Lamborghini Murcielago, worth $330,000 in 2006, using a finance plan. According to sources, he fell behind with payments in 2009 and the car was recently repossessed.
Reportedly, bosses at Premier Financial Services, the company behind the deal, took the car and sold it off in an effort to pay the debt, but they are now suing Jermaine Dupri over allegations they have been left more than $79,000 out-of-pocket for expenses not covered by the sale.
The lawsuit was filed in Georgia Superior Court.
Dupri, 39, has been struggling with a number of financial problems in recent months – he faced foreclosure on his home in Atlanta in April, but saved the house from going under the hammer after working out a deal to keep the property.
He has also been accused of falling behind on tax payments, and in May, Pam Sweat (the mother of his 13-year-old daughter) claimed he failed to pay child support.
Jermaine Dupri has been credited with forming the rap group Kris Kross, discovering female R&B group Xscape and female rapper Da Brat. He later wrote and produced songs for Destiny’s Child, Mariah Carey, and Usher.
