Actress Charlize Theron announced on Wednesday that she has adopted a son. Theron “is the proud mom of a healthy baby boy named Jackson,” her rep said in a statement.
Theron now joins the ranks of other actresses who have adopted a child as a single mother, including fellow Oscar winner Sandra Bullock, and “Sex and the City’s” Kristin Davis.
Jackson is African-American and is Theron’s first child.
Although Theron, who is South-African, has said marriage was not necessarily in her future, however, being a mother was definitely part of her life plan. “I want a baby,” she revealed last year. “If it would happen tomorrow I would be very happy.” Hinting at her desire an intention to adopt, Theron explained, “There are so many unwanted children on this earth and it’s our job to care for them. And if we don’t, we’re doing the world a disservice.”
