Old school rapper Heavy D left behind a pretty large tax debt when he died late last year.

Reportedly, Heavy D planned to make a huge comeback before his death but a lot of the money he would have earned would’ve ended up in the hands of the California state government.

Records indicate that Heavy D (real name Dwight E. Myers) owed $43,967.87 in unpaid taxes.

As reported by gossip website TMZ:

Rapper Heavy D was working on a huge comeback before he passed away last year, but some of the profits might have gone straight to the State of California … because Heavy had a pretty sizable tax debt. According to docs filed last month by the Franchise Tax Board in California, Heavy D has a tax lien against him in the amount of $43,967.87. The lien applies to the years 2008 and 2009.

Heavy D died in November of 2011 due to pulmonary embolism at the age of 44.
