On Super Tuesday, Mitt Romney won 6 states. The states that voted for him included his home state, Massachusetts, Virginia, Ohio, Idaho, Vermont, and Alaska. Rick Santorum followed closed behind Romney winning three states. They included North Dakota, Oklahoma, and Tennessee.  Newt Gingrich managed to win his home state, Georgia. Ron Paul unfortunately left another primary without winning anything.

During the Super Tuesday primary, not only were these 10 states up for grabs, but so were the 419 delegates in them. According a CNN estimation, Romney walked away from this primary with 415 delegates. Santorum followed with 176 delegates. 105 delegates supported Gingrich and 47 delegates supported Paul. To win a GOP nomination it takes 1,144 delegates.

Although Mitt Romney won 6 states during the Super Tuesday primary, he still failed at winning overall support from conservatives within the Republican party.  According to CBS in the Ohio primary, Romney barely won with 38 percent of the vote to Santorum’s 37 percent.  In Virginia,  Romney left the state with 60 percent of the vote to Paul’s 40 percent.  Will Romney learn how to gained the total support of  conservatives as he heads to the next primary?

The GOP candidates gear up and move to Kansas, Wyoming, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The caucuses will be held  this Saturday, March 10, 2012.
