What can only be described by some as heartbreaking, Supermodel and “Project Runway” host Heidi Klum and singer Seal are officially separating after 7 years together.

Klum, 38, and Seal, 48, married in 2005 on a beach in Mexico. They have 3 biological children together, plus Seal adopted Heidi’s daughter Leni from a previous relationship.

Throughout their marriage, Seal and Heidi became known for their lavish Halloween parties (and equally outlandish couple costumes).

Heidi once said, she fell for Seal after checking out his ‘merchandise’ in a pair of bicycle shorts.

They would also renew their wedding vows every year in elaborate ceremonies. Klum legally changed her last name to Seal’s in 2010, becoming Heidi Samuel.

On Sunday night, the couple confirmed the separation in a statement to People magazine.

“While we have enjoyed seven very loving, loyal and happy years of marriage, after much soul-searching we have decided to separate,” the statement reads.

“We have had the deepest respect for one another throughout our relationship and continue to love each other very much, but we have grown apart. This is an amicable process and protecting the well-being of our children remains our top priority, especially during this time of transition.”

Heidi Klum’s first marriage to stylist Ric Pipino ended in divorce in 2002.

Professionally, Heidi Klum is host of reality TV show Project Runway, and maintains several international modeling contracts. As for Seal, he released the album “Soul” last year, which peaked at #1 on French Album Charts for 13 weeks. In the past, he won 2 Grammy awards for “Kiss From A Rose.”

Forbes magazine reports that in 2011, Heidi raked in $20 million. It’s unclear how much Seal earned, since much of his income is earned overseas.
