Singer/Actress and her husband Jay-Z reportedly had their first child at the Lenox Hill Hospital in New York.
After weeks of false rumors claiming that Beyonce had given birth, the singer has finally really had her child.
E! News reports, Beyonce, 30, checked into the Lenox Hill Hospital in New York on Saturday and gave birth to her first baby with husband with Jay-Z via scheduled C-section. However, the couple has released a statement, explaining the baby was delivered naturally.
They’ve reportedly named the baby Blue Ivy Carter, according to E! News.
According to Good Morning America, the couple chose “Ivy” because of the significance of the number “4” or “IV,” – Beyonce and Jay-Z were born on Sept. 4 and Dec. 4, respectively, were married on April 4, 2008, and Beyonce’s latest album is entitled 4.
Several celebrities tweeted congratulations to the new parents, including Rihanna, who wrote, “Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih.”
Russell Simmons wrote, “congrats to my good friends Beyonce and Jay-Z.”
“Welcome to the world, Blue,” Beyonce and Jay-Z’s close friend Gwyneth Paltrow tweeted Sunday. “We love you already.”
The actress also answered a “confused” fan who asked if the infant’s name is “Ivy Blue or Blue Ivy,” saying, “It’s Blue Ivy!’
Fans had been eagerly awaiting the birth of Beyonce’s first child. Rumors began circulating more than a week ago that the powerhouse couple had already given birth to their child, but Beyonce’s sister Solange quickly put those rumors to rest.
Instead of putting out a press statement, Mrs. Carter announced her baby news in August on the red carpet at the MTV Video Music Awards. She posed openly for photos, rubbing her growing baby bump. She even gave a shoutout to her future child while performing during the show.
“Honestly, I just felt free,” she said of her pregnancy reveal in an ABC interview with Katie Couric. “I really did, because I’d been holding the most exciting thing in for so long, and I just felt like, ‘Wow, now I can enjoy and now I can just experience this the way that every woman should,’ ” she said. “I felt like, ‘Oh, I can breathe and be happy. It was a beautiful feeling. … I went straight off the stage and cried. I hugged my mom, I hugged Jay and just cried. It was a beautiful day.”
In November, Jay-Z said that he hoped to be the kind of father whose children could talk to him about anything.
“Your child could come to you and have any type of conversation. I always hope for that kind of open relationship,” he explained.
