In an honor well deserved, I congratulate Dr. Paulette Johnson of Petersburg, (second from left) who recently retired from Va. State University where she had served in various capacities over the years, but none more notable than as the Head Cheerleading Coach. For her hard work and tireless dedication, she will be inducted next month into the CIAA Hall Of Fame.  Dr. Johnson practically took cheerleading to another level when she became coach of the “Woo-Woos” as the squad gained national recognition and set the standard for other cheering outfits at our HBCUs.  Dr. Johnson spent an incredible 35 years at Virginia State and was also the college’s first female athletic director.  As a Trojan alum and fan of the Woo-Woos, I say Thank You Paulette!  We Love You.  Congratulations!
