Congratulations to former UR basketball star Johnny Newman, who also played 16 seasons in the NBA with various teams. Newman, a Danville native, will be inducted into the Virginia Sports Hall Of Fame in Portsmouth coming up in April. Also being inducted will be former Hopewell High School basketball coach Bill Littlepage, who led the Blue Devils for 44 seasons before retiring, and won the State Championship in 1972. Former world champion boxer Pernell “Sweetpea” Whitaker will also be enshrined along with former UVA football star & NFL great Tiki Barber.
